Project 1: SELF-EXPRESSION THROUGH OBJECT 'REPRESENTING ME'

This ice-breaking design project is an introduction of the basic methods and approaches in generation of ideas and conceptual narratives. This aims to be achieved through the exploration and creative representation of one self.

For this project w
e need to pick and generate ideas from a Pokemon character, self-identity through personal interests, preferences, attitude and personality and later on apply them to an actual model or 3D artwork. The pokemon i choose is magnemite its because this pokemon required 3 magneton stick with each other to evolve into magnemite which is same as my personality of love to stick with other people and dislike to be alone.

This project was very fun and interesting as in we keep ''playing'' with the pokemon and the models and learn how to generate more ideas from the character we choose.

Project 2: SELF-EXPRESSION THROUGH ARCHITECTURAL SPACE 'SMALL SHELTER'

The main aim of Project 2 is to expand on the interpretation of the self (or multiple selves) by exploring the relationships between the human body and designed form. We as students will also be introduced to basic design principles such as rudimentary ways in which each how each component dictates the form. and be further developed an understanding of scale and proportion with relation to the human body.

For this project, we are required to form a team of 2-3 members and propose a
shelter design which is not exceed 3.5 cubic meters. We shall translate and explore space and form in relation to human body (anthropometry) in a series of conceptual sketched and study models. We will then specifically translate our design intentions through designing ‘small shelter’, using choices of materials that are durable and marginally weather proof while exploring its architectural expression. Each group is required to produce full scale model installation that encompasses spatial and form quality in the final submission. We are then required to camp for one night in the shelter to test the design of the shelter.

In this project i had learned a lot of thing about the use of spaces, the important of the anthropometry to the shelter's designed form.

PROJECT 3 : DREAMSPACE FOR THE USER ‘SPACE FOR THE SELF’

For final project, it is an individual work as we have to come up a narrative of a story/journey/personality about ourselves. From there, we need to develop a hideout/dream space. Throughout the design process, we have to understand human anthropometry and ergonomics, basic design principles, poetic translation of idea/concept into space design, selection and application of material of the space. Other than that is a proper orthographic, perspective and axonometric drawings of the model have to be produce and clearly state the space.

In this project, i learnt that the important of the spaces to the user and also the important of the drawings which give the information to the people.
